Fullmetal Alchemist is a Japanese manga and anime written and illustrated by Hiromu Arakawa. The story was first serialized in 2001 and received an anime adaptation in 2003, followed by a second adaptation called "Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood" in 2009.

The plot follows two alchemist brothers, Edward and Alphonse Elric, who seek to restore their bodies after a failed attempt to bring their mother back to life through the magic of alchemy. In the process, Edward loses a limb and a leg, while Alphonse loses his body completely and his soul is bound to armor.
